I am thinking of purchasing a single 48" bay of CSS with two cabinets, not the box type but shelves with ends and sliding doors. I have some 32" bays and the shelves are pretty solid, but I am a little concerned about the rigidity of the 48" ones? I don't plan on loading it up with books or anything but I was just curious if anyone has had issues with this.

Reinforced
You should not have any problems as the 48" shelves are reinforced with metal to give the longer span the needed strength.

I have two CSS installations
One is standard 96" poles and 36" wide bays.
The other is unusual 63" high poles and 2 bays, 1 36" wide and 1 46" wide.
Absolutely no problems whatsoever.
