Need help identifying Danish modern chair

I found this really cool chair at a garage sale yesterday and I can't seem to find anything about it. I asked the owner if she knew anything about it and she said a friend had brought it from Denmark a long time ago.

I believe it is made of pine, or some other soft wood. The leather seat connects to the chair with a dowel that slides through three loops closed with buckles. The hardware is brass and it is put together similar to some Ikea products I have assembled in the past.

There are no markings that I can find.

The use of leather reminds me of some things I've seen designed by Borge Mogensen but the shape does not seem similar to anything i've seen.

Do you think it's a designer piece? Is it worth trying to clean and refinish? Should I leave it as is?
