Need help to ID this weird table selling tomorrow - no idea

Really odd table and chairs coming up for sale tomorrow,

there is something about it that makes me think it may be a good designer
, it extends with three leaves and a leg that holds up the middle, the top is melamine, strange construction. The auctioneer has told me it was argentine? anyway I have searched with no luck & am running out of time before having to bid!

Any help would be appreciated - I'll be up all night!

Thanks Guys! I'll give it my best shot today!
It would be better to be armed with the ID, MCM design is fetching high prices here, I don't want to bail out & find out later I should have paid more , on the other hand I have paid too much before! haven't we all?
It does look like Americano Functional, especially the chairs
