NY modern show  

my good friend who i buy a lot of great furniture from just came back from the NY modern show last week in NYC.
First he said it was good.
I went last year and thought it was great , but what do I know right folks!!
He said they should have changed the name to the NY modernism/1st dibs show cause that is what it really was, all your high end 1st dibs dealers who manage to figure out a way to sell their goods for prices out of the Universe, and avoid of Cheap EBAY buyers,
He said the hot people are Kagan, Parzinger,Probber,The Pauls,Evans,
Frankel,Mies early stuff,Nelson early stuff, he said and i quote that Nelson must have made so many prototypes we have just see a few of them, there are a lot out there and that is bring the really big dollars, and the one every one wanted to own was Alexander Girard furniture, Braniff stuff as it is now coined, since it was so cool with his great fabric on it, (not surprising to me since he was so great.
He said no one bothered to have the usual suspects, of Eames,Sarraine, Bertoia bread and butter stuff, other than his real fine art statues, that are big bucks!!! , b Eames Lafonda stuff was making a big splash (i always attribute Girard with that furniture but it really was Eames, and it was made for s uch a short time and has become highly collectible, cause not even Vitra is making any thing from that collection and Last but not least he did see the Wooden Elephants while in the City. at Vitra Nice but no buy for him
