NEOCON 2006 Update  

I have returned to NEOCON 2006 Chicago this year for the 28th time... Yes, I'm almost as old as Cher (but she looks better)... My time at the Mart was limited this year with other obligations... I always look at the Knoll and Herman Miller showrooms first to see what's new... HM's new system "My Studio" by Doug Ball is very interesting with an industrial and Raymond Lowy aesthetic that I think will be welcomed in some open plan office installations... It has windows that can slide open between cubicles for conversation or teaming... Knoll has a new desking system called "Wa"... Very architectural and was displayed in black p.lam with bright yellow accents... I liked it... Knoll also introduced some great new textiles... I did get to sit on and experience Harter's new MCM looking seating and table indroductions... The sofa and chair sit in a "lounge" position and are as hard as they look... Good for waiting room seating but maybe not residential... The tables are "the best" with many options for tops (laminate, linoleum and colored glass)... HBF had some very interesting lounge chairs that looked kind of like the old high backed Laverne plexiglas chairs only instead of clear plastic they were in white leather... Can't find them on their website so don't know the name... They looked a bit MCM... The most enjoyable part of NEOCON this year was spending time on the first floor of the Merchandise Mart looking at all the high-end bath and kitchen displays... Ann Sacks tile has some great looking glass mosaic tiles that would look great in my MCM house... Gives me that extra boost I need to start on bathroom renovartions!... As I think of more new product intros I'll come back to haunt this thread... Tilanus, I looked for you but couldn't find you anywhere... LOL...
