Hi all
At a local auction recently, this lamp was added last minute and not heavily advertised. I was wasn't able to attend but i left absentee bids on a few things Anyway the lamp went for $1800 plus buyers premium.
So evidently at least 2 people in the audience knew something. No one else did. Especially me.
Anyone know what this is.

Yes, Gil Watrous.
Won first place in the famous 1951 MoMA/Heifetz Low Cost Lighting competition.
That example is from the earliest production; later versions had an aluminum shade. $1800 was a deal.

Pics I snagged
some time ago from an auction for an old Heifitz catalog. How would you know a real one of these lamps from a copy? Not that I know there are copies around but I would assume there are as it looks simple to create for someone with the correct skill set.
