Yayyy! Thank you so much! That makes perfect sense given your clues. In fact last night we were saying, "It's got to be someone who was known for chairs..." but for some reason we forgot all about Erik Buck!
On the subject of Erik Buck: Does anyone know the definitive spelling? I've noticed that the Danish websites usually spell it Erik Buch. But the common spelling here is Buck. Does anyone have any period printed reference matter spelling it out?
And speaking of weird & unusual Erik Buck designs, I finally ID those dining chars I posted back in May. Also Erik Buck: http://www.designaddict.com/forum/Identification/Anyone-recognize-these-...
Vintage documentation spiels Erik Buck's name both was, although I have seen 'Buck' more than 'Buch.' And earlier documentation all seems to concur with 'Buck'.
It seems that English speakers who want to make the name seem more Danish decide to use Buck. I don't know if it's seen that way in Denmark too, but I do know that there was a time when using American first names was quite popular, and a bit later on that fell very much out of favor. 'Buch' also looks more like German, which is not a good thing in Denmark, as there is a history of the Danes losing to the Germans.
