One of my first finds was a lovely modular wall unit made of (I think) walnut. I was just 19 or 20 and found it in a little flea market completely taken apart. There were two of them, and I do wish I had gotten both now, but I have really enjoyed this piece almost more than any other I have. I figure it's been nearly a decade since I found it, and was curious to see if anyone knew anything about it. Either way, it is made extremely well and I bought it for just $75!
This unit comes with two boxes. One has ribbed sliding doors, and the other has a drop down door with a drawer inside. It's meant to be positioned at desk height to be used in that manner (I don't use it this way right now). It has several shelves and a cool magazine display shelf (not currently in use). It has two scones that connect to the poles. It's all wood, no metal at all (save for the scones and the screws). I really love how it is put together - very intuitive.
I have never been able to find any markings on it. On the inside of one of the boxes some kid put some shelf paper with spaceships on it. It is halfway ripped out, but I have never been able to get rid of it, so perhaps the old label was underneath at some point ... or the kid just peeled it off.
The two units belonged in the bedrooms of two young boys. Their father was an American architect. That's all I know.
The photo I supplied is very bad, so maybe I'll snap another later. It really doesn't do it justice.
I really love this piece!
NOTE: My photos aren't working right now and I am doing it the way I always do. Can anyone see my picture?
