Queensland 'walnut', just if you guys are interested, used to be a fairly common tree but was made rare producing acres of veneered deco dressing tables which now make landfill, please look after it.
Fortunately its remaining growth areas are World Heritage listed.

The Cloud Table
dates from 1947
how about the Risom?
[edit]
I did my own research 😉
Risom = 1941

The veneered parts on both, not sure about the legs.
Its a bit nicer without the fiddleback (reversing grain that gives that rippled effect) and is then the equal of any European or tropical hardwood, the state gallery here has benches made of the stuff in solid that usually attract me more than anything that might be on the walls.

...and the Risom table in...
...and the Risom table in turn resembles the Paul T Frankl take on the cloud theme.
Incidentally I have a Morris cloud table finished in oak veneer - the only one with this finish I've ever seen

That type of biomorphic...
That type of biomorphic design was fairly common in the United States from the 1930's up until the late 1950's.
Probably impossible to establish who came up with a 'cloud' shaped table design first.

Just Picked up this Cloud Table
On the subject of cloud tables here's mine, I have just picked up from our local auction, it looks like a custom piece - it needs a bit of work but I love the grain detail
