My good friend just bought this Eames chair but the white boots have got me stumped on dating it, any ideas?

My good friend just bought this Eames chair but the white boots have got me stumped on dating it, any ideas? Are the boots even orignal? I've never seen them on a DCM or LCM chair before.

The white boots are probably a later addition to replace the originals that had gone missing.

That's what I thought as well but was hoping they were original. Yes it is one Hell(er) of a collection. Belongs to my friend Stu and I'm pretty sure he has the largest collection in North America. That's literally a very small fraction of what he has.

White boot glides are not original.  Posting photos of other aspects of the chair and any labels will help in dating it.

I'll take more photos as soon as he brings it over. He did say there are marks underneath that he could not make out.

Looks like it's probably 1950s production.  Can you post a photo of the back side of the back rest?
