I found this teak bowl in the local charity resale store yesterday. I didn't want to buy it without all our "teak geeks" approval. It has a slight flea bite on the rim. I don't carry a tape measure, but it is setting on a filthy Knoll Pollack chair. I took a snappy of its belly, I can't read the makers mark. I'll post a pic of that, too.
Advice and love,
Aunt Mark
It's only $28.00 USD.
Here's the bottom...I take lousy snappies. The paper label says Made in Denmark. The stamped part looks to be a word/name about 7 or 8 characters long. The first 4 letters appear to be HOLB...and I can't read the rest. The foil label says something about teakwood and Denmark. I'll go and grab it this morning...and probably shove it into the back of a closet...and re-donate it.
Super thanks for all of the guidance.
Your Aunt Mark
Many thanks to all of you!
I stopped into the resale store after breakfast, and bought it on sale (???) for $20.00 USD. I forgot and left in in the car this morning, but I will bring it into my abode when returning from dinner.
So many thank you' s...drinks are on my tab.
Hillbilly hugs,
Aunt Mark
It is made out of one solid...
It is made out of one solid piece of teak (as opposed to some sort of staved construction), which means it was made as a higher end piece, in order to justify the much larger amount of needed raw teak. Aesthetically this gives it very nice grain patterns. The designer aspect of the market may have distorted the value such that it is currently not worth as much as something that was originally made for a lower price point. But you won't know that until you decipher the marks on the bottom. And often higher end construction correlates with higher end design.
