why is he/she an asshole? He/she will definitely sell that and likely get close to their asking price. Poor photos provided by the OP made the chair look like it may have been in poor condition aside from the upholstery job. This has a nice frame and a sought after style base. The only ones who know the button pattern is off are those that "collect". Most likely someone searching for a "mid century" chair will buy this. I would have purchased it if it was close enough to me if I knew it had that base and I would have flipped it as well. I would have replaced the missing ottoman button and asked more than they are asking for it.

Wow! I sort of feel like I...
Wow! I sort of feel like I am watching this chair discover that there is a big world out there outside its old house. I find myself rooting for it to make an underdog bid for a debut at a big New York gallery, to be followed by a world tour of auction houses, perhaps culminating in a steady, well curated museum gig.
A chair can dream.

Yeah, this chair
would have led a boring life with me. This is the big break it's been waiting for.

You Did
You did the right thing by the chair.
This way, it gets to travel, to meet people - see a bit of the world.
It'll thank you one day.
