i saw it in George Nelson ...
i saw it in George Nelson cataloge for Howard Miller
for the 1966 1967 collection with 1 hour left on ebay
I think every one thought that it was a fake, or not a real Howard miller , so i summited a bid for 60 bucks and got it ,
On the wall now and a nice looking clock a little smaller than most but great looking,
I just emailed LRF a picture...
I just emailed LRF a picture of the second table (pizza version) the other day. I was too lazy to post it here. Really wish I didn't have to use photobucket every time I want to post a picture. I fail at least 3 times out of 5...
Anyway, I was in contact with a guy who had the Nelson pizza clock and matching table for sale. The tables were supposedly sold by Raymor, but not sure if there was ever a designer involved. At least I don't think Nelson had anything to do with the tables...
i dont think nelson had ...
i dont think nelson had any thing to do with the design of of the Meridian clocks , i think all he did was have his office design a series of hands for these clocks but i do think he approached Howard Miller about the idea to do the ceramic clocks. I
currently have found four sets of hands that are used on the meridian clocks, still doing lots of research and data.
if you come across anything of interest on the formation of any of the clocks please post
dont bother to tell the Irvin Harper Nagguchi Fuller story as that is well documented, I need to find out all I can on the Arthur Umanoff.era as i think he took over after Harper left the Nelson office in the Spring of 66 and added his signature style of thin orange hands and a very slick late 60s 70s pop op look. with large numbers on his clocks, Sad to say none of his clocks bought the big bucks and became as collectible as the Harper Nelson clocks, I have no idea... maybe someone out there can tell me why they did not bring the big bucks, or even the mid bucks, more like the little bucks,
The meridian clocks have gone in cycles the guy this summer who had the big collection on ebay averaged around 300 to 450, but he did have some unusual ones,
I have searched all of the auction house from 2001 and find that most Nelson clocks averaged 250.00 dont post and say you saw one for 500 plus cause some are still bringing the big bucks,
Sad to say after 1976
I would not have given 49 cents for a Howard miller clocks unless i wanted a old chimer, they just seem to say the hell with this modern bull lets go for the grandads clock, ugh,
Wanting to talk to MidMod50
Hi, I think you said once that you had around 100 Nelson clocks. I too have collected Nelson Associates clocks for over 20 years and have around 50 different model numbers, all vintage. Some of the rarer ones being: the Flock of Butterflies #2226, the Triangle clock #2225, the flex wood #2286, the Leather clock #2262, the Spike-Diamond#2293, the Pretzel #4775, the really rare #2268 glass dome desk clock, the MotionNotion Kaleidoscope clock #2277, the popsicle clock # 2257, the Eyeclock, the Sunflower, the MonoRail #2287, the Shadow Box desk clock #4763,both versions of the mosaic tile clocks #s 2232 and 2231, all 9 versions of the ball clock, including the giant one, two of Nelson's very last designs, his Post Modern clocks from "84, and many others. I have a few Vitra reissues and other reproductions, but don't include them in the 50. Have 3 Meridian ceramic clocks and am still trying to decide if I consider them G.Nelson Assc. or not. I have a pretty good idea who I consider G. Nelson Assc. and who I consider Umanoff and later. Also have 3 different Weinberg clocks, really love Weinberg and collect him too. If you would want to exchange information and pics of your collection for pics and info on mine, let me know. I talk to a few other collectors around the U.S. and have some great info to share. Thanks and hope to hear from you 🙂 I Clock
Clock collections.
I Clock, that's a pretty impressive collection that includes a few I don't have. The shadow box clock and leather clock for two. Did you get the leather clock on ebay? They had one for sale a few months ago, but I ended up losing out on it.
I don't have every ball clock (I have five), but I do have most of the others you mentioned, including the flex wood clock, which I've always found to be one of the coolest. I also have the entire motion notion collection, including the kaleidoscope, compass, diamonds, and hexagon (1 in white and 1 in black). I have a spreadsheet with all of the numbers of my clocks on it at home, but not here at work.
I'd be happy to talk to you. Just let me know your e-mail address.
