Nelson desk and asterisk clocks...
The round chronopak desk clock may be the second most common Howard Miller/Nelson clock out there (after the ball clock and I guess maybe the spike clock). There are also surprising varations on it over time, including slight changes to the face and those that are battery powered. I also think some may have been manufactured in Germany, but I'm not sure about that. Any information others might have on that subject would be appreciated.
The brass asterisk clock is also a nice one, but the one on ebay looks too perfect not to be at least refinished. I prefer to let the brass on my clocks tarnish a bit. For instance, the old turbine clocks look much more industrial (and in my opinion coooler) than the newly made Vitra ones.
Barry, that was a very good letter to Schiffer, and I hope the project gets off the ground. I'll be in touch. After attending to my day job out of town the past week, I'll also try to upload a few pictures of my clocks to the website shortly. However, is there some way to do it without posting to the web? I have several pics, but it seems the only way to post a picture is to link to it.
MidMod...what I do is
I have a free account at photobucket.com. It's amazing easy to upload pix from your computer to photobucket, size them down to website and click the direct link and copy it to the "associated web images" below.

the clock is similar to the Nelson/Fritz Hansen stool clock viewable in this link....but is CLEARLY DIFFERENT

I don't think that's a Nelson
I believe I have all of the Howard Miller catalogs from the time period and have a pretty good index of what's out there, including a complete set of Interiors Magazine, which cataloged many of them in ads (though there are always new clocks popping up). I don't recognize those hands as Nelson, and the rest of the clock looks related to or derivative of some of his designs, but not exactly the same.
I sent LRF some pictures of my clocks, but still haven't figured out how to post them to the site. I will see if I can figure it out this weekend. In the meantime, has anyone here seen a Nelson CSS clock? I don't mean the panel that has a clock and barometer, but an actual piece of wood with Nelson clock hands and hour markers attached to a piece of wood. It appeared on ebay recently, and I went ahead and purchased it. It looks legit and has inlaid hour markers in addition to the normal Nelson markers. Regardless, it's very cool, as my twin obsessions are CSS and Nelson clocks.
Just won this ugly
Nelson clock for $30.77!
That's so cheap...worth the price to get the hands, isn't it?
I have a theory that Howard Miller wasn't allowed to use the Nelson hands after their relationship ended.
I think Nelson Associates continued to make more mondaine clocks towards the end.
I DID see a CSS clock
It was being sold on eBay as part of a large CSS group. It was a wood panel with the standard wall mount clock works built into the panel and the panel had side metal attachments so it could be positioned on the poles.
Stupid, bloody me...I didn't pinch the picture of it.
The georgeclock by Arris...
The georgeclock by Arris Design is an homage to the classic George Nelson Ball Clock designed in 1947. It cleverly takes up the negative space of the original design and yet creates its own unique identit
