Modernica is closing NYC and Chicago showrooms!  

Rude staff?
I was reading a thread on Flickr and this seems to sum-up some of the opinions of the level of service one can expect:

If i were the owner i would be more worried about my cutomer sevice and support staff than thinking of more MCM stuff to copy and give it your own different name so it looks like your own design.
sad that they make good products and have such idiots working for them,
I to have experienced crappy service both in NYC and the on line store so on this one I don't mind pyling on, on this one,

how is that ox chair by modernica, anyway?
i would have bought a sofa from Modernica if they allowed customer supplied fabrics for them. Not much textile selection for the prices.

On the Ox chair... Modernica ...
On the Ox chair... Modernica claims to produce it themselves. They call it an Ox, and its a nice piece. I haven't compared it to original AP Stolen produced versions. Has anyone?
I am a machinist by profession, I also do wood working and have done some upholstery work. I don't like junk one bit. I know when something is well built. Thats all I ask for, quality first.
By the way... that link to Flicr doesn't even look like Modernica's actual website. It could be a Modernica dealer like Hive or someone else? Are you guys jumping the gun a little on the entire Modernica organization? I can't imagine they are such an evil empire or I wouldn't allow them my business. I have made trips to the LA store, and they treated me fine.

It is a shame they never got it together with their sales staff,
I for one thought the NYC staff was rude when i was in the store 1 year ago in SoHo
I have bought so much stuff for our warehouse offices from them it is not funny I never really enjoyed talking to them ,
I asked for some screws for some effiel tower stands that i had bought and it took three weeks to get them.
I went to Lowes and found them and here i thought they were some special screw that would only fit their stands, Jay the owner acted like he was doing me a favor one time getting me some chairs that they called 2nds cause we were going to recover them with a nice vinyl , but at the end of the day they were the ugliest chairs that i ended up pitching cause they were so bad, and the guy still charge me full price so i have had some poor response from those people,

I think he meant
that the blogger wasn't actually referring to a Modernica showroom (which I initially thought as well), but to an independent retailer who has an account with Modernica (which is why the Modernica logo is on their site).

Twelve posts above, Black651 pointed to a flicr account, that showed a picture of a salty girl, flipping the bird at a website that appeared to be Modernica's. Because the website was a dealer with Modernica, and had Modernica logos on its front page, the assumtion was the girl was mad at Modernica. It actually the website for another company called insidemodern.com
Phew, I am gonna quit talking about this subject.

Case Study
By the way, I guess that Modernica has secret names for all of the stuff, but what the hell is a "case study"?
The only time I ever read about pieces called "case study" was Eames prototypes, and those Modernica "case study" sofas certainly ain't Eames.
