Have you guys (and gals) seen this beautiful bed? It's pircey, but what do you think of it?

I haven't changed my mind
about it:

I forgot
that it had been discussed previously.
I'm a big fan of futon cotton bed mattresses, so those grips at the bottom would be great for keeping the mattress in place....and the platform with the holes will be good too.
It's expensive, but until i find a better queen bed frame for a futon, then i'm gonna buy it.
Meh
Gotta say I don't love it. I like what Modernica has done with their original plywood desings - the Tenon table & chairs, for example, but not this.
Too much copying of the Eames work, without their grace and elegance. They brag about how many layers of ply are needed, but to me it looks heavy and graceless. Sort of like an elephants legs. I would have tapered them more for a floating effect.
I also think the footboard could have been better resoved with a panel that echoes the headboard, but perhaps turned in, visually wrapping the ends of the mattress. And following that, push the headboard a little wider, creating a sense of privacy for the occupants of the bed.
As soon as I can get photoshop to work I'll post a picture of my tweaks.
After playing
After playing around with phot-shop I think the bed is just beyond hope without some major adjustments. Its too derivative and bland. The legs are too thick, but tapering them makes it look just more like bad copies of the Eames work. The sled runners are unresolved at the foot, and have no relationship to the headboard at the head. The headboard is neither big enough, nor distinct enough to stand out. And why do all the photos show a random pillow tossed halfway down the bed?
I pushed the headboard wider, and dropped it down to meet the mattress closer (so you dont lose your pillows at night); the footboard echoes the headboard and keeps the mattress in place; and I think blackened steel legs would allow a cleaner look, and more strength.
