Yeah, those Eames tandem chairs are one offs that repro companies design. The reason why those Eames items aren't "price competitive" vs. original is that their lower price. Reproduction companies simply cannot offer much price savings if any on the lower price point items, i.e. Eames molded plastic chairs, Panton S Chairs, etc.
Yes modernreproductions is very shady from my POV
I had to reverse a charge with my credit card and they still have not made good on another order. They seemingly have the same sale every month but mysteriously have no stock. They have an adress in New Yirk and an answering service but they bill you on British pounds and send emails from China promising "another eight to ten weeks " and the merchandise never shows. These guys are crooks.
