AVOID Modernreproductions.com FRAUD!!!!!
My first transaction with this website went smoothly. Months later for the second transaction, they charged my Amex for more than I authorized and skipped town. They are supposedly based in NYC but my card was charged in the UK. Product was never delivered. They did not respond to e-mails or phone calls. It took Amex months to refund my money. I can't believe this site is still up. Don't get suckered in. STAY AWAY!

I emailed them and asked if their
repros were from Italy or China (via Alphaville) and they responded that their goods are from China but theirs is not Alphaville.

I guess ...
I guess ModernReproductions.com is in the trash for me.
i believe my friends on DA they have nothing to gain, by saying unkind things to companies that try to crook people, just cause they like modern furniture.

Yeah, the ads here from...
Yeah, the ads here from Google content ads. But in any event, they aren't selling Alphaville items b/c their prices aren't much lower than what Alphaville semi mandates. If you're looking for a reproduction, look at companies that are Better Business Bureau rated and give customers full access to their ratings. In the past, I liked Sleek Spaces, but whoops, they went out of business. Then I found out about all their bad ratings. HA. In the reproduction world now, I think you have
1) Furniture Loft (www.furnitureloft.com)
2) Modern Collections (www.moderncollections.com)
3) Paradigm Gallery (www.pgmod.com)
Those seem to have stuck around

What made me interested in them is this:
I'm still looking for a 'definitive', yet affordable sofa, and when i made jokes abouit the ridiculous price of the Poul Kjaerholm PK31 sofa from Fritz Hansen, I decided that even tho it was expensive, it certainly is a pretty thing.
Modern Reproductions is about the only website that offers a knockoff of this sofa....and I'm wondering if it wouldn't be cool to have a sofa that looks like the $20,000.00 model!
Anyhow, it was just a thought and that's why I asked if anyone had actual experience with these guys.

Gotcha. Gibraltar Furniture...
Gotcha. Gibraltar Furniture offers it too. KMP furniture offers both the loveseat and sofa. Try searching on froogle.com. I've heard of the factory that reproduces these in China as not being the strongest, hence, why other reproduction companies don't offer it. Furniture Loft used to carry it, as did Paradigm Gallery, but I don't see it on either website. You may want to check to see if they can get it though to weigh your options.

Hi Barry, Have you considered an Artifort sofa? I don't know if you'd find a dealer or a good price in the US and perhaps it is a little bland but it would hold its value.
This is the c905, designed in '68 by 'the artifort design group' or something like that.

If anyone's thinking about bu...
If anyone's thinking about buying a sofa from a reproduction site I think it's safe to assume that anything else from a super high end European company would not be their second option price-wise.
Heath, do you know how much is the Artifort C905 sofa sold for in the US or Europe? I really like it and I don't think it's bland at all, it's just really minimal and classy.

Like everything
You get what you pay for. Which has me confused with ModernReproductions because, for example, their PK sofa is abou 90% less than the authentic one, but their Eames Wire Based table is 120% MORE than an authentic one. And their Eames plastic chairs are almost the same price as the HermanMiller ones... why would you buy a copy? Also, Barry - their photo of the PK sofa is lifted from FH's website.
I've got to say, its a little disturbing reading their FAQ's in which they say "nothing you buy now will ever be anything but a copy". What about the Eames Aluminum chairs? Or the Eames Lounge - which have been in continuous production? Deliberately misleading 🙁
I did have a few chuckles, see photos below:
Their swan chair is ALMOST lifelike.
The Eames DID make tandem seating.. I'm just not sure this was it.
And poor Corb, who so dearly loved his proportions...until now.

lucifersum we might be ...
lucifersum we might be buddies yet....
Eames never made Tandem seating like that .
Those are the ugliest chairs i have ever seen that tandem seating stinks and that swan I own two real ones from the 60s ( mine looks like they are steroids compared to that piece of junk and with my new kavdrat fabric it should be out of this world,
