I'm 35 and don't get me wrong...
I'm 35 and don't get me wrong I LOVE vintage electronics...I have a Castiglioni Brionvega turntable in my living room, a Mario Belinni Olivetti Divisumma 18 on my desk, Dieter Rams and Reinhold Weiss radios, fans, space heaters, etc.
These items are beautiful pieces of design, unlike the spine of a plastic cd jewell case. I, too am concerned about sound quality and appreciate the analog/digital debate. That said, I still don't want an area of my home with a rack full of plastic cases.
I have a decent vintage vinyl collection that I listen to through my old Koss k/6 lc headphones--- its great...but not all that nice at a dinner party. I keep my collection stored away in a cool dry place- out of sight.
At the end of the day, storing music digitally, in my eyes, simply makes sense

This is an interesting...
This is an interesting subject. There's this school of thought that all media should be tucked away up and out of sight, and I respect that thought, and was even on the fence about it myself for a time; I like the idea of gooey fillings under minimalist icing. With that in mind, I thought a sliding panel that concealed the wall which housed my collection might be just the thing, (barndoorhardware.com -- not an endorsement), but in the end, I left it as is. I have one wall that is almost solid with recorded media and it really isn't unsightly or busy as you'd think. In fact, it enriches the room in a way with its mosaic of spines. It imparts a warmth not unlike a good library. It says, people live here...it says, treasure! But mostly, I rarely focus it much attention at all -- the eventual fate of almost any wall treatment.
That reminds me -- I read once a few years back where a couple of bibliophiles were trying to sell their home in SF and two different real estate agents encouraged them to stash away their books, as it supposedly discouraged buyers. But a big TV hanging on the wall is cool. How insane!
The design aspects of an interior should be ancillary to the inhabitants and their occupations. To me, a place without ANY media looks somewhat staged and even superficial.

Jesgord,
Where did you find...
Jesgord,
Where did you find the Brionvega turntable? It is beautiful but have found little of it on the web.
