Most of the time we discuss furniture, which is fine with my own mahagony number but This one I could not resist. The next step is of course that you unfold something hidden in your pants and roll away. I enjoyed this. I suspect that the oil that DCWilson discovered is still a few decades away and even than we will have to be careful with it because of the pollution it creates.

Even with the limited range/speed (due battery capacity, I'm a speed junkie) and initial price tag...this is very impressive! I was ready to buy one until i saw it would cost me roughly $6000USD. I'll stick to leg power.
I'll comment on the oil in DCs post.

Should 10 years pass, and oil resources proven inexhaustible...I don't think there will be enough incentive to maintain the oil dependency we've endured for the pass 100 years. The collective social expectation of how our societies extract and use resources has shifted dramatically. Stemming largely from destructive wars, environmental destruction, and the crippling/killing effects on human health. Ten years from now, there should be enough alternative fuel developments/refinements to make it cost effective and attractive for everyone. I firmly believe the free wheelin' days of oil are numbered no matter how much is available or how cheap oil becomes.
The only hindrance I can foresee at the moment is politics and business stifling of any shifts away from oil...largely stemming from $$$. Any future wars with any associations to oil will reflect this. Not that it currently doesn't, but rather than being the object which draws violence, oil becomes the object which violence is attempting to distance itself.
That's what my personal crystal ball tells me...please don't shatter it (other than the war part, we can live w/o that).

Was curious and did a youtube search for yike bike wipeouts...unusual fascination I know.
Came across this video I long forgotten about. I dare the first DA to buy one attempt this mountain top feat.
***Warning***
Video is graphic. Not for the squeamish. Biker is alive and well today.

sweet. Sort of a sit-down Segway ? A lot more portable, though. Don't batteries weight a lot ?
I've very pleased with my 8-month-old Downtube Mini folder. All-alloy, easy-folding pedals and front stem, 8-speed Sturmey hub. Nicely chosen components. $550. Had to fiddle with the seat tube a bit. Parks under a table, without folding the frame. Love it.
Pretty conventional compared to the neo-Penny-Farthing, though !
