I bought this unit without the key (see photos).
Just wondering if requires some generic key or do I have to hire a locksmith for this? Anyone knows where can I find a key that would fit this lock?

Locksmiths often have a stock of old keys of this sort. You might be able to leave them a deposit and take the keys home to see if any work.

Love it, jdip.
A museum where I worked for years had a large collection of furniture and we often resorted to what we fondly referred to as "the cigar box full of keys". I'd say about 80% of the time we'd find one that worked in less than 10 minutes.

for hundevad you need
a number 2 skeleton key.
a simple old key filed down on the side to make it flat should open then in a second.

Thanks Simon!
That was actually my second question, if the unit was Hundevad and you said it right off the bat. Thanks for the ID and a big thank you to specifically pointing out that it's key no. 2!

Question for Simon
Hi Simon, when you said that I needed key no. 2 for Hundevad were you referring specifically to the one featured on the link that jdip provided? See link below.
Thanks!

Key in Danish units
Hi Guy
Mostly used in Danish cabinets were the skeleton key no 2 or no4 which simply refers to the notch in the side not the front.
Each lock should have the number stamp on the lock side. Take it out and see it embossed.
here is a image to illustrate.

Thanks Simon.
I will keep trying. I had a locksmith modify an existing skeleton key to resemble no. 2 key on that link that jdip provided but that didn't work. I just actually ordered that set from that link so I'm hoping one of those keys will work.

Hi GuyInSF.
Did any of the keys from the skeleton set work for you? I have a danish modern wall unit and I'm looking for the key, too. Cheers!

Hundevad secretary lock
Would you know where or how I could get a replacement lock? The spring in the lock broke.
