I purchased these two chairs I am thinking they are Milo Baughman for DIA, same actual seating with different arms from his other style of lounge chair from DIA.
So has anyone ever seen this arm configuration? And do you agree it is M. Baughman?
Thanks
**UPDATE** 5-8-14 Read the exchange below.
I posed this question on DIA's Facebook page
Can you please tell me who made these recliners by DIA? Also I am a member of a mid century design forum. We are trying to verify whether or not Milo Baughman or his design company had a relationship with DIA at any time.
And here is their answer:
DIA Furnishings: Terry--Milo did do some design work with DIA in the past but nothing more beyond that. Since the corporate office has moved to High Point we do not have access to older designs prior to 2005. We suggest waybacktimemachine.com to search old DIA websites to find pieces that are in question.
This was updated a few hours later with this response.
Correction Terry R Guldin: Milo never did any design work for DIA, and these chairs were by George Mulhauser!
So finally an end to the mystery chairs. Also The patent listed below showing the chairs is always attributed to Milo Baughman. I will snicker and correct everyone that post them incorrectly. Hopefully this info helps others.
George Mulhauser invented the Coconut Chair while working with George Nelson.

I don't think there are any credible references to be found that make this claim.
According to ebay/1stdibs though, Baughman designed every piece of furniture containing metal that's been produced since 1950.
All that is shiny is not Baughman!
DIA made and still makes nice things though.
Lazy attribution.
The laziness of some 1stdibs dealers astounds me and to make it worse they are giving credence to some of the false attributions. I had one recently where a dealer posted something as Willy Rizzo, I said its not Rizzo and a few minutes later they thanked me for pointing this out and then posted it as Pierre Cardin.....it wasnt Cardin either but its all over 1stdibs as Cardin so the dealer was thrilled to now have the true ID on the piece via 1stdibs and that makes it fact.
...
I forget I should never say never. A representative of Thayer Coggin had informed me that there was an "exclusive" relationship. This maybe lapsed briefly in the 80s? DIA is a high quality manufacturer that would indeed be a step sideways, it seems like it should be easier to find specifics though, if indeed there was a link...
Milo Baughman was a Mormon. Yuck!
