Is it possible? Thought of using one as a guest bed, even though I've never slept on one. Have rested on one, and they're stiff...but light years from sleeping on the floor.

Depends
How long do you want your visitors to stay?
Was it Mies that said "House guests are like fish, after three days they both begin to stink"? Or was he sitting by a campfire when he said "Les eats s'mores"? I can't remember.

Your quote is also reminiscent of architect Phillip Johnson, who liked visitors, but not overnighters.

I think its a good idea, I had the impression from looking at some of the floor plans that he sometimes intended that. Remving the bolster of course, be nice is summer, the tension on the straps would have to be pretty tight too.

It's that or....
That is a wonderful idea. I took the bed out of the spare bedroom and replaced it with the Poul Kjærholm, PK80 for Fritz Hansen. I offer a choice of the PK80, the floor, or my preference a hotel. Should there be two people the second is welcomed to sleep in the living room on the Maya Lin, Longitude chaise longue for Knoll Studio®. They should consider themselves lucky to experience these products.

Lucky? I would say lucky would entail a generous host with a comfortable bed. Who gives a toss about labels? People are where it's at. That Knoll label isn't going to give them a pleasant night's sleep or fond memories of you or your home. If anything, they will hate modern design for it.
"The role of the designer is that of a good host anticipating the
needs of their guest." ? Charles Eames

Whew !
A whiff of humanity (humility ?) at last. . . Thanks, whitespike.
Mies vs Johnson vs Eames -- that's interesting, isn't it.

And people wonder why the Eames pair holds the majority of the MCM hearts. It's all about the intent of design rather than just the design itself.

get a dog
When I wanted a friend I purchased a dog. When I want a lesson in civility I will ask for one. This was a discussion on daybeds, not some pompous persons primal and primative opinions.

OH, that's rich!
"When I want a lesson in civility I will ask for one." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! How would you begin to tell you needed one....I can't see that happening!! Oh Egads! That's hilarious....I might wet my britches! Oh Lordy!
As for guests....simple. Set limits, make them comfortable, show them where to find what they need, but keep the booze cabinet to youself...enjoy their company...life will be fine...

Hey
I make guests sleep on a dog bed.
They should be so lucky to share a bed with my poochie.

P.S.
I recently watched Twilight (awesome film, by the way!!!11), and Edward Cullen had a Mies day bed in his room. He did not have a regular bed, because vampires don't sleep (at least not the vampires from Twilight).

named after food
Once again I would suggest that this was and is a post concerning daybeds.
Since you insist on making it personal, please do yourself a favor and swing down from the trees, find some shoes, and purchase some Depend® products. This may help when you are at the liquor cabinet.

Oh, Snap!
I love your use of the "r" after everything! You are a snarky sort of a fellow aren't you? Do you hang with a certain DA'er from MPLS, perhaps?
