I got this poster from someone who studied industrial design at IIT with Mies and his cohorts. Said he got it from him there. So the lineage is great. Just wondering if anyone has seen one before or knows who may have designed it. Its definitely old, l believe it's a litho, it's got the halftone coloring. Photo is not great.

Nice poster
martin.velo,
I do not know anything about you poster, except that it is very nice. The lineage "sounds good", but without any supporting documents it is just an unproven story.
My suggestion would be to keep the glass (acrylic) and throw away the frame. It will look even better with a simple "made to order" wood frame.
Congratulations on your find.

For sure. It's a real metal frame, but I hear you about the wood. The glass artist has his CV online, and the dates overlap with Mies at IIT.

Seems weird that Mies would give a student a huge poster of his face with BAUHAUS written across the top. But I guess anything is possible.

Just got the response...
Just got the response back:
"As my wife and I recall that was a poster from an exhibition of Bauhaus memorabilia and archives that was at Illinois Institute of Technology in the early 70's. This poster was obtained by my wife from the Student Union/Commons at the close of the Exhibition. I don't think these were ever offered for commercial sale. I think it was very limited and made just for promotional purposes.
Hope that makes sense."
So while he was there at the same time as Mies, this poster exchange was after Mies' death. Interesting connection though, and maybe explains why I can't find another.

hi Martin
The Museum of Modern Art showed a large straight-on Mies poster that was just his head looking at you with the circles (it looks like yours has circles--my vision isn't too good); the Mies poster was their website display for Architecture & Design for most of this year.
In the museum the poster overlooks modern furniture. I always looked for him--I loved it.
