if it is one of the early day Thonets it would be worth a lot , as they are very desirable to own .
If it is a mid century reproduction it could be worth as much 250 to 400 in as is condition . to re cain it I think it will cost from 150 to 250 to redo. I do not do that kind of work.

I found someone to recane it for about $200. After looking at all the resources online I am pretty convinced it is made by Stendig rather than Thonet. Unless it is a 70s knock off, but it looks right to me, and everything seems to be of quality.
What would you do if you were to resell? Resell as is? Repair and resell?
I hate to repair it if it is a knockoff, but this is as much info as I can get.
I will repair if I decide to keep it.

All repair is being put off for now. An associate of Wright Auctions is in correspondence with me. He said "I am still intruiged, but of the six or so sources I checked out, none have the cuff joint like yours."
The chair seems quite old. So I guess I will wait for them to do some research before I go tampering with it. I realize that the probability of me finding a rare meaningful example is almost an impossibility.

I have a customer who bought a set of these chairs, 2 with arms and 6 without arms in the late 60's in Notting Hill, London. I'm positive that they would have been top quality when she originally purchased them. Ive not seen them and shes not sure who made them. My question is.. What the full set might be worth and as 3 of the chairs need the cane restored how much that might cost and does anyone know where in the UK this could be done?
