I just purchased a mid century wood frame couch and am trying to identify it. It is unusual in that there is a section on top of the seat that lifts up and out to form a bed.
Please see photos. I also found a date stamped on the bottom: Jul. 10, 1964.
Does anyone have any ideas on this piece, please?

Coincidentally...
We just sold one of these today. The other responders are right in that at first glance it doesn't seem to be anything special. There are, however, a few things to note. First, the side assemblies (arms, legs, etcetera) on ours were solid rosewood, as were the front and rear legs. The little braces in the middle of the seat (there are two on the main seat and two on the lift-out piece) are rosewood as well (weird, since they're hidden by cushions). The rest is oak. Ours did not have the sinuous springs, but rather Pirelli webbing. It had a date stamp of Apr 18 1962 upside down, on the back of the front skirt.
The rear legs are Danish-inspired, but the joinery is clearly not at the level of your typical Danish maker.
I looked for a couple of days, but didn't turn anything up as far as maker. There are myriad terms for this sort of piece, which makes searching that much more difficult: hide-a-bed, sleeper sofa, convertible sofa, futon, etcetera.
Given that this item has sold, I'll link to my post with higher-resolution pics. If this concerns the admins, they can remove it.
Good luck with the ID!
