Bought a set of six chairs off an old couple in Bristol.

Look
very like Merrow, although I have seen Pieff pieces in wicker before, and never Merrow.
Any chance of a close up of the bolts and the underside ?

I'm not 100% certain...
but I think they're probably Pieff.
The tubular under frame, welds and fixings make me think not Merrow Associates.

Sorry!
cross posted, now I've seen the other (allan) bolts they look more likely to be Merrow.
My uncle worked for Merrow Associates, if I get the opportunity I'll show him and ask him

Limited runs
Thanks for the input guys. Think my suspicions were confirmed by the reference provided. I too have found a couple of other examples on the internet ( also with quite heady prices, although I understand these are in swanky London shops )
Can't find any examples with the wicker seats though, which I've got to admit, I like.
So my question now would be,
Did merrow do limited or bespoke runs of furniture ?

Yes
they did special commissions, both through their own contract department and through Heal's contract department

Do you know if Merrow used different bolts over the years ?

Not yet
he lives the other side of London and isn't computer savvy.
The construction remained pretty much the same, chromed flat steel bars, sometimes tubular chromed steel legs and allan bolts, mainly rosewood veneers, but sometimes teak.
Towards their demise they used white laminates too.. but you
don't see many of those.
Here's a pic of a set I used to own ( I recovered the chairs)
and a coffee table.
I had a drinks trolley too- will look for pics..
