I found 4 Massimo Vignelli handkerchief chairs in red and blue today at a furniture sale and they were asking $60/each, they were in new condition and I passed them up. I think I made a mistake because apparantly they sell for $350/each. I really don't care for the design but I am wondering if I should go back and get them and try to resell them to make a profit. Does anyone know what the market is like for these chairs???? I think they are really ugly and too industrial for my taste but I'm just wondering what everyone else thinks about them.
I have a set in all white, and I love them.
They are vintage 80's, and I only paid $65 each, so that is probably the appropriate resale value.
The only thing I don't like about them, is that they are deceptively heavy. They look quite light, even the name further suggests such, but the base is solid steel rod and weigh down the chair considerably.

Great photo.Handkerchief chairs dont "read" as 80s to me for some reason...Yes, they are damn heavy, ever notice how junky design often aims at a weighty look and is light/flimsy?These chairs exude quality in a quiet way,to my eye, touch. They are... the wind beneath my W I N G S...:)
