I found what appears to be a 42" Knoll Marble Tulip Table Top. I was wondering if anyone knows how the top attaches to the base? I'm considering buying the base seperately? The marble top has two holes drilled into the underside.

Not a bad question... I don't know the answer, but have seen most of these large tops have an adapter plate that is fixed to the bottom side of the top. The base is threaded into that plate. Marble won't thread easily. I would guess the adapter is bonded, to the marble, with a glue of some sort?
