Hi all,
Found this great article on how furniture and interior design can be driven by our connection to the natural world around us. I found it really inspiring and would like to discuss how this could be extrapolated to other areas of design and fashion. I did something similar for my final year at university. The rugs especially are incredible and I love the way she reuses old wool, it really resonates with me on an environmental level.

Thanks for that post John. Most designers had been practicing that concept engaging people to its surroundings/environment not just connecting them visually but also haptically including the other senses (hearing, touching, smelling and taste, the last one if you are in the culinary arts).
That connection does not have to be literal like in Japanese garden design where the idea of water can be represented by arranging rocks as if it had been eroded by it and not really literally there.
There are many books out there of designers about this concept like for me one of the best, contemporary architect Peter Zumthor, Juhani Pallasmaa' s book called Polemics and another book called Wabi Sabi.
And iI appreciate that you are thinking about being ecological as well. Good luck.
