This is documented in numerous auctions as Max Bill. I have sold these and the multiple globe version many times as M. Bill. Auction houses can certainly be wrong but that is certainly good for most as documentation and identifying such obscure pieces. I think to know for sure you would need to find out the other person's sources as to this NOT being a Max Bill piece. He seemed pretty sure of himself.
