As you have proved yourself a super sleuth :o) I was wondering if you can ID my new dining suite for me ?
Apologies for the pics..they're not mine, and the suite is at my other home at the moment.
I'm thinking it is 1950s and Danish??

Why Danish?
What are the distinctive elements that make you think it's Danish? (Just wondering...)

The combination
the combination of black painted comb backs and legs with blonde wood seats, the brass angled supports to the table from the legs- and the way they bolt, the divided form of the legs and the branding style of the marks on the chairs... perhaps Danish was a little specific, but I would bet money it is Scandinavian ;o)

Hey robert1960 and happy New Year.
I must admit I'm pretty flattered - and that it annoys me, that I can't help you. I have no idea who designed this dining suite. Danish, hmmm ... I think is has more a sort of Swedish vibe going on.
I really like the table.

Hi
and Happy New Year!
Yes, Swedish, you could be right.. that also might account for the large S under the chairs..along with BGB/D?

Yes, I think I have ID'd the chair
I know that there are many variations ( read: knock offs) of this Tapiovaara chair. Do you think they are the same?

No
Those are nicer than mine!..
but the Tapiovaara influence is clear, but I guess the combination of materials and their treatment is rooted in traditional Swedish / Scandinavian chair making anyway?

close but...
The four legs are nicely shaped on your first chair. It also includes a classic "windsor" cross bar construction that is typical for so many of these scandinavian chairs. I think we have to look further.
