I bought this chair a while back at an estate sale and it's been in my living room ever since and I absolutely love it but now I want to know a little more about it. There's no mark on it at all. If no one can pin point the designer can you at least take a stab at figuring out the country of origin on this design? American? Danish? Japanese? Brazilian?....?
Thanks all!

Danish
Hi
I am ollmost 100 % sure, that the chair is Danish. I might be one off our famous designer from the 1950 - 1960, but I am not sure wich one...... sorry.....
If you polster it with beige leather, you have one off the most popular designs, in Denmark today
Perhabs "France and sons", "Grethe Jalk", .....????

Definitely not produced by France & Son or designed by Grete Jalk. I doubt whether it is even Danish in origin!
Can you tell us what timber it is produced from? It appears to have a very heavy stain applied to it.

Screw
heads. Check 'em out if you can find one exposed.
Square (Robertson) = Canadian
Star (Phillips) = American
Flat (slot head) = European
This isn't 100% but it's pretty good. Don't know what they used in S America or Japan.....

Yes it does have a very...
Yes it does have a very heavy dark stain to it but I don't know what kind of wood it is. Perhaps I can take a closeup of the wood and some of you might be able to ID the wood? I really don't care whether it's Danish or American or whatever I just really love it and it's definitely staying with me and yes I will probably re-upholster it at some point.
Thanks everyone for all the input!

franklydiscreet,Your break...
franklydiscreet,
Your break down of screw types makes no sense.
Robertson screws were used in both canada and usa.
The slotted screw was also used worldwide.
That said, the chair looks like stained fruitwood to me.

Looks...
American to me too. Thinking the Pearsall style designs for Bassett?
