I am looking into getting a Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair.
I am thinking about getting a repro. There are soe many sources. Does anyone know who sells the best reproduction?
There are many stores such as ..... and probably many more.
I am guessing not all are the same...

This is tricky...
Its been talked about a bunch in other forums. I know the appeal of a re-pros (price, color choice, easy to acquire...) but honestly the quality just isn't the same. I would suggest speaking with a local modern dealer. Tell them what you are looking for. Create a good relationship with them (purchase a few smaller items, visit often, ask questions). When they find what you are looking for you can typically get first shot (and possibly get a better price if you are ready to buy right away). You can also pick the fabric of your choice if the piece needs upholstery. Take your time and get the real deal, you won't regret it.
Oh, and resale value when you're ready to sell will be much much better. 🙂
I am sure that the quality...
I am sure that the quality of the "original" company is best. But I just can't swallow the margins they are getting. I tend to buy the original when it makes sense.
However, the cheapest original Fabric Egg Chair is $6500. But it gets better, a classic leather is $14k (other leather going above $16k)! Just thinking about the difference makes me mad. The finest leather in the world, upholstered by the best craftsman can't justify this delta.
I have seen other repros well made. For example room&board sells some items (not the Egg) that seem well made.
In this spirit I would like to find out who selling repros has a better reputation than others.
When you have some free...
When you have some free time, maybe you should go shopping for some extra large high quality leather hides, then try upholstering an egg chair with the curves in every direction and 1,000 hand stitches around the edge. See if you can do it without the leather getting puckered, rippled or loose and your seam perfectly straight around the edge. Then come back and tell us about the overpaid craftsmen, the overpriced materials, and the huge profit margin. There is a reason you only see the knock-offs in cheap fabrics and not in quality leather.

nikleb,
Should your disposable income be insufficient to buy a Fritz Hansen Egg chair perhaps you should lower your expectations. You have been offered the carrot and refused, the only option remaining is the stick.
