This lamp is clearly marked by Lightolier, and definitely later; late 60's would be my guess (I can ask my Dad if he remembers when he bought it but I doubt he will). The picture of the base has a Lightolier stamp above the other writing, though it is hard to see in the picture. Interestingly it is made in Japan. So does anyone know the designer of this lamp?
