I did some basement cleaning today, and realized I have 3 Laurel lamp bases without globes. A few years ago, a dealer in NYC was selling replacement globes and I had bought two when they where on sale. After that, no more were offered. WHY? Is there really no demand for these? I remember a somewhat "snobby" attitude from the dealer when I inquired about buying more...sort of a "these are beneath us, and we make no money on them", to paraphrase what my fuzzy memory retains.
It just seems to me they would be a popular item...especially when I look at the 3 bases in my basement.
What are the chances that they will ever be produced again? Can anybody share the history of the replacement globe production,...and the how and why of the end of production?
I look forward to your opinions and comments.
I just finished
(well nearly) making a three part cast aluminum blow mold for these shades. It is not tested yet and has issues. It is a large and unwieldy thing. I don't even know If I am skilled enough to use it. I am quite sure I understand why it is not a profitable venture for a seller.

....this site online. I bought one a few months back and I was very happy with the overall quality. It was under $150 with free shipping which was nice.
