minimoma, nice score on the "reissues." I have been looking for that carving knife and fork for a while, to match the rest of my Fjord set, but it has always been priced far higher than I am willing to pay. All of those are in ridiculously good condition! Was there just one flamestone plate, or a set?
the weirdest things wash up every once in a while
A Keal Brown and Saltman coffee table with a lift top in blonde Mahogany. Nicely labeled. Can't find a comp.
Pretty beat but will be a fun project. Anyone tried refinishing blonde mahogany? I think I tried once but had REALLY bad results (uneven acceptance of finish as I remember).
Thanks Zephyr, that is actually a large Flamestone serving platter. There were offered for sale a recent reissue Flamestone dinnerware and Fjord flatware set from Thailand or something in the mix...but I just have no interest in those items.
Nice table find waffle. If you refinish blonde mahogany, it should look almost white/whitewashed without a honey aged color. If you want to maintain the aged color, try just lightly sanding the clear coat and refinish/recoat just that part, but without seeing your table in person, it is hard to assess the condition of the finish just by looking at the image you posted. Good Luck.
Thank you both. You can't see from the pics but it has approx. 100 water rings. No matter what I am going to have to remove the existing finish on top. I will do a test with a couple of different finishes just to see if I can get away with a simple strip/finish effort. It's pretty dinged up but a really neat piece.
A vintage Kay Bojesen flag bearer in excellent condition. The seller told me she got it about 20/25 years ago so I guess it is a Rosenthal production. Paid 5€ for it.
A bunch of Mobilia issues from 1965 - 1966 (paid 10€ a piece) with a nice background.
They come from the personnal library of a french designer / architect that was active in the 60s. The guy died a few years and his widow was starting to empty the basement. Their flat was full of interresting items (a set of ant chairs, a few eames chairs, a Fabricius for Kill Int. living room set, lots of vintage italian designs, etc.) and creations of her late husband (including a scale model of a car design he offered to Peugeot in the 1960s).
I had a fantastic time there, met a wonderful lady and... will have the priority when she will decide to sell her furniture 😉
