@HawaiiModern The pink La Fondas are super cute. I added a DCW to my hoard. I haven't gotten around to fixing the back.
Yesterday I returned to a local TJX store prior to dinner and purchased the remaining four (4) Jonas Damon Eye Hide and thirteen (13) small Eye Hide boxes along with two (2) Fort Standard Prism natural beech wood corkscrews for Areaware "price reduced" to $2.00 a piece. The Eye Hide boxes are fun...
Last weekend at the antique faire I didn't buy the Sarpaneva cast iron dutch oven (with teak handle) and I've been regretting it all week.
Yesterday this one came up for sale locally, also by Rosenlew. The only picture I can find of another one online is in the Rosenlew museum and the photo is too small to tell exactly.
I like it.
Today at Goodwill for next to nothing:
1. Stevanne Auerbach (Dr Toy) FAO Schwarz Toys for a Lifetime for Universe Publishing
2. Michael Graves stainless steel 5 liter watering can for Target
3. Lella, Vignelli one quart casserole with au gratin cover for Heller
4. Massimo, Vignelli Max red serving platter for Heller
Nothing special, just fun stuff.
racecar, that is a painful one. I've been thinking this morning too much about all the things I got for cheap at junk auctions 10+ years ago before all the dealers caught on---stuff I bought to sell that I now kind of regret. One thing I did keep was the long Rosenslew terrine. The handle was missing but it's still beaufiful. I've also never once used it, but who cares!
I also got one of these Stig Lindberg for Gustavsberg, Sweden ice buckets made of heavy ceramic and then sold it. I know I didn't pay more than $10 for it. I knew what it was, I just felt at the time that I couldn't keep everything that I bought.
jesgord,
I have the exact same Overscale Candle 49 (showroom display). It is a nice piece for the "right price". I am in at below $100.00 from an authorized B&B Italia (Maxalto) dealer (even at "next to nothing" pricing I was thinking it is only a candle). Congratulations to you. The less paid for a candle he better...
I made a simple latex two piece mold of the candle prior to usage. With the correct size wick (even burning on a large piece), wax of the quality you desire, some form of pigment and a small quantity of granulated polystyrene (retards burning process-longing burning) replacement candles are easy and inexpensive. I hand rub the "made" candle with cheesecloth for a pleasant luster. The fitting at the candles bottom for base attachment is easily sourced. Martha Stewart has nothing on me... she was convicted.
jesgord,, all kidding aside your candle is a nice design statement. I have made replacement candles, that is not a joke. I have time on my hands and it was worth a try (small seams from the mold may be eliminated with a mini torch).
I found the Pernille Vea Galerie candleholder for Menu Design today after the french bakery and before returning home. A 50¢ Goodwill special. My unit is clear.
A framed, signed and numbered contemporary work by Los Angeles photographer Wayne Shimabukuro from the early 2000. The original gallery price was $899, Goodwill was $8.99 + 50% off. Examples of his work are included in the collections at the Getty, The Huntington and LACMA. Real art for the poor (like us).
