It’s been a while since I posted in one of these “last thing” threads, but over the weekend, I won at auction this pair of Quistgaard staved teak pieces: a waste bin and magazine rack. I’ve had my eye on both since I started collecting in 2011, but every time one popped up, they would go well above my limit. Somehow this pair hammered for below what one of them usually goes for at auction. They should arrive sometime next week.
Congrats! It’s so satisfying when that happens. And I really like the waste bin…

@browkin - They look superb. What did you have to do with regard to restoration?

Perhaps my favorite Moller model for appearance!
That's some nice work you've done on the chairs (and exceptionally good photography, too, btw). I hope you realize an appropriate return on your investment!
I have yet to actually sit on one of them, but I've wondered how the "horns" atop the front legs affect comfort. If I had a set for use in my home, I suspect I might be tempted to shave them off despite my usual desire to keep vintage pieces as close to original as possible.
I grew up with these as our dinning table chairs ( rosewood/ Black leather). We actually played "castle" under them as the entrances! The back horns have no affect on usability or comfort as the curvature of the back is just what is needed. The seat "horns or bumps " make exiting a straight up and down affair. Sliding out of them as round as the bumps are might affect your popliteal.
Haven’t posted on here in forever but thought this latest thing I acquired was worthy! Market place find that I somehow didn’t have to compete for, saw it, sent the money and it was marked sold. Then the stress of waiting to get it wondering if someone would swoop in and ruin my day but it was meant to be!
Finn Juhl for Bovirke, circa the 1950s
@ponyboy This is amazing! Hope it was a steal. This cabinet was made by Soren Willadsen and at first probably just sold at Bovirke and Nyt Hjem stores. Later on Bovirke included it in their range but the production remained with Soren Willadsen. I've just seen it at an exibition about Soren Willadsen's Moebelfabrik. It is a very nice design, I must say. Does it have a tag or mark?

@Herringbone thanks for the clarification re: who produced it! The price was definitely right, even with the seller knowing who made it! No tags or makers marks that I can see. Some writing on the back, one which I assume was an address and the I’m not sure.
Congrats! Awesome find!
Would it be possible for you to post a closeup or two of the exposed and interior parts of one of the hinges? Thx!
Sorry if it seemed like I had ignored your post. I've only just read it! Thank you.
And please excuse me if I don't look up the definition of "popliteal", either. Sometimes ignorance is bliss.
@tktoo. I would be more concerned about damage to my Coccyx !! 😆
