No, that looks like teak up...
No, that looks like teak up close. It is just dark. Maybe they used a lot of (exterior) teak oil on them, and they are covered in a thick layer of darkening teak oil?
As to the era of manufacture, some time in the early 70s Møller subtly, but significantly changed the shape of the 71 and 55 chairs (probably other too). The story I've read is that the factory burn down, so they got all new tooling. Anyway, in the earlier medallion mark era, looking at the front of the 71, there is a bit more curve as the legs merge into the backrest.
In that era Møller seems to have been less constant about affixing the medallions, so yours may not be marked.
If they do happen to have the later stamped mark, I am entirely wrong. But I don't think so. I look at both eras of these chairs all the time, so I've gotten to be able to spot the difference.
hoopsie,
I've had lots of teak that dark. I like it! It's very rich looking.
I don't try to lighten it but cleaning the surface grime off will brighten it up. I use to use Murphy's Oil Soap (straight, undiluted) but it really dries the wood out. Now I just used oil and steel wool.
Be careful not to scrub too hard in any one spot or you could end up with a lighter area that will be hard to blend with the rest.
First time posting here....
