Eames House Chicken
Maybe Herman Miller should copy one of George's chickens and whore them out like they did with Ray's FOLK ART bird?
I have a few good Chicken George pieces.

new credenza...
it's a long monster. i'm debating on keeping...a strip of wood above one of the slide panels broke off, likely as someone was moving it to it's most recent stop before me. I hate, hate, hate the idea of gluing it back together. But! after reading other posts on restorations, I guess one piece of wood glued on isn't too bad. it's beautiful inside. The drawers seem like they're solid maple. not sure.

Wow, that is one
loooong credenza!
By "strip of wood" do you mean the edge banding on the end? That frequently comes loose. It sounds like it is missing altogether, otherwise it'd simply be a matter of gluing it back on which shouldn't be too distressing.
If the piece is Scandinavian, the inner parts are more likely birch or beech than maple. Birch grain looks more like maple than does beech (which has distinctive little flecks in it---don't know what these are called but they do have a name).

109"...crazy, right?
Found a tag inside "Nils Jonsson". Sweden. OK, maybe I over emphasized the piece of wood. yes, it's a strip and I have it. Clearly, some boob tried to take the doors off, and at the same time, pulled a piece of wood off. NOT a clean seam break but I can match it up enough to glue it. It's so big, I don't think I can keep it. I just couldn't resist the price. I can't be the only one guilty of that! Thanks for replying Spanky.

Hi tchp!
That Italian horse and rider ceramic piece is awesome! Love it and great colors on it! Would have definitely picked it up for $2 in a heartbeat myself! Surprised nothing's chipped or broken too!

This morning I bought
a pair of large modern white flower pots (from my fav local charity thrift) that are labeled "Gainey Ceramics" handcrafted in california. Actually, they originally were adorned with 10 foot tall fake Alexander Palm trees and moss/bark/crap. I only took the flower pots.

Thanks woody.
actually, I grabbed the pair, and trashed both of the tall fake palm trees that occupied these sweet simplistic vessels. A visit to the garden center will be my weekend project. They appear to be newer.
Green thumbs and spanked bums to all,

Yes
Can you grow Japanese maples down there? (I'm guessing probably not)

I'd really dig that.
But the big girls have no drainage holes in their bottoms, so I'm probably limited to annuals. But I must find out.

drill a hole
Drilling a hole in the pot is simple enough using a masonry drill bit. The important thing is to go slow (really slow) and you won't crack the pot. You could also just use a liner insert. Would be lovely with a nice Indica in it (I live in Wa. state).....

Thank you hazelnut!
I will attempt to carefully drill a drain hole. I have a couple of masonry drill bits that I use to drill into the solid concrete patio walls. Maybe I should purchase a nice new sharp bit.
Best,
Aunt Mark
ps plants are tough to grow on my patio due to the salty air, shaded NE exposure, the wind up here on the 27th floor pisses off most plants, and the plant must blend well with my hub cap. Whatever I plug into the soil will only last a short time.
pss most importantly, the plant must be non-toxic to old orange cats.
