Picked up a large green vase yesterday from the local charity resale store. It's marked Rosenthal Netter (or something like that) Made in Italy.

Always,

Aunt Mark

Mark,
I am going to venture to guess that the portrait next to your vase is that of your great, great, great, grandfather -- the love child of Bacchus and Sir Isaac Newton. That is the vibe I am getting from it in any case.

T H Robsjohn Gibbings? Widdicomb? Two chairs
Picked these two up, one bigger than the other, ma and pa. At first look they feel like T H Robsjohn Gibbings but I can't find a reference anywhere. Anyone have any ideas? THANKS!

WPB Thrifts
Aunt Mark:
What are your favorite thrifts in your area?
I live in Houston, but I visit WPB at least 1 or 2 times a year. Thrift shopping in that area is one of my favorite things.
I'd be interested in knowing the places you like best.

this counts
The 45 design items I have acquired this month are nothing compared to the new rescue Schnauzer my wife and I got this week. Laurie will never again be returned nor neglected. It is good to be a pet in my family.

That is wonderful, niceguy. Now is Laurie the new dog or your wife? And hello oddgirl. As you already know, the Palm Beaches are loaded full of quality resale stores. I only visit 3....The first 2 are on Palm Beach.
~The Church Mouse (charity)
~Embassy Boutique (The upper end Goodwill store)
~Hospice Resale (in Juno Beach)
I try to stop by weekly to donate, but usually end up buying something that I really don't need.
Best,
Aunt Mark

Danish Teak Man Figurine
This is very minuscule compared to other things usually featured in this thread but I found this little cute charming guy at a local thrift shop for $2 also. I googled but didn't see anything like it, I see lots of Danish viking and troll figurines but nothing that looks like this guy. I just love that his head is shaved off with just one eye and his rope arms and legs.

Peter Hvidt Sofa
This sofa doesn't have the signature front to back floor bars but it's spot on everywhere else and it's definitely vintage. It's also quality construction and wood. I don't know what the deal is with it but at 250 I have no regrets. It's beautiful.
Anyone know of any knockoffs made of this sofa?

In the photos of the this sof...
In the photos of the this sofa in the other thread you posted, the back looks very wrong.
I assume it is not marked with the France and Søn/Daverkosen medalliion or you would not be asking about knock offs still....
Not that you need to convince me, but I would feel very confident in saying it is _not_ France and Søn without a medallion. France and Søn was possibly the most reliable company there was for marking their product every time, in a lasting manner, and often in multiple locations. (e.g. I have a F&S sofa that is marked in 10 places).
To be clear, there are a very few anecdotally known unmarked France and Søn pieces. But they are only called F&S pieces because they are dead on in every other way, no just sort of similar more or less.
It looks to me like a vintage Danish modern sofa with arms reminiscent of the arms on the Peter Hvidt sofa you think it is. Probably they looked to it for inspiration, especially with the arms.
Seems like a good buy at $250. Vintage sofas are rather hard to find.

Thank you
I appreciate your response. It confirms everything I thought about the sofa. I have a lot of France & Sons Pieces myself and yes they're all marked a ton. My Finn Juhl Bwana ottoman is marked with J Stuart and France & Sons Medallions on both sides underneath. Talk about overkill. I'm happy with the quality of this sofa though. It's incredibly well built and really beautiful in person.
Again, thank you for your insight.
