You know where to find me. :)...
You know where to find me. 🙂 Time to go look at my other thrift scores now to make it a little easier to swallow. At least now we'll have two on the lookout. I can't bear the thought of paying $600 for a puzzle. No matter how remarkable I think it is.
aww...
if it makes you feel any better, i just went through all my thrift "finds" recently, and have about 20 things I want to keep - the rest, in bins for a garage sale!! and yes, I'll know where to find you and will keep my eyes peeled! you just never know. perhaps the owner had the fish as well. will check back tomorrow. i only need one 🙂

There is a chain of secondhand shops here in Belgium, called Kringloop-winkels (translates as Re-cycle or Life-cycle shops). They are run from a social point of view, imploying people who have difficulty finding or keeping a job.
Once a year these shops keep a 'retro-day' (it's awfull really 🙂
Everything orange and chrome gets saved for that day and it attracts a lot of public.
I had seen a Kai Frank bowl for Finel (red lacquered metal bowl) some days before, but they would only sell it on the day.
I was arriving quite late, having no illusions there would be something interesting left. But as I looked over the almost empty shelves, this heron by Belgium ceramics firm Perignem was left untouched somewhere underneath, hiding in the back.
They were known for their minimal, hand thrown vases and bowl, but also had some strange looking objects and animals.
It's 40 cm high, bought it for next to nothing.

I first used citristrip to remove the finish layer. I then sanded the piece (carefully as it is veneered). After sanding and cleaning I applied Watco Teak oil. Im still deciding what I want to use for the final "finish" coat.
I left the doors alone but the top had water spots that needed to be redone.
