Greetings, have been lurking around here for a while now. Think the forum is great... regularly check here to pick up bits of info. I'm based in the UK and have an interest mainly pieces designed by architects... very keen on post war Dutch industrial.

Have picked up a great pair of Hala Zeist Pinnochio lamps. An iconic piece of Dutch design... been after some for ages.

They are in great condition but are fairly grubby... especially the insides of the hoods. Could anyone give me some advice on cleaning them. I feel that something a little stronger than soap and water is required but don't want to damage the paint in anyway.

Could anyone reccomend any sympathetic cleaning products please?

I'd start with a couple of drops of fairy liquid
in a bowl of warm water and cotton balls. Rinse well. You might be surprised.

.
if all else fails you could use T-cut or other cutting compound - should be fine unless the paint is very thin
