Has anyone got an old knoll pricelist that includes the original price for the love seat sofa please. I have seen the other thread with the 1967 prices and the sofa was not on it. If you have could please post the costings for the sofa here.

Was the sofa added at a later stage ie: post 1967 ?

Thanks, Killian.

Very little is known
Very little is known on the Knoll Platner sofa. It was not released with the original 1966 collection, however 1970 is probably a good estimate. In Ten by Warren Platner, the sofa is shown in the Princeton Prospect Faculty Center renovation of the same year. I have a Knoll Associates Price list for the Platner collection (pre 1969) and the sofa is not mentioned. The large easy chairs (high backs) however were listed for $620, so I guess one can assume the sofa was in the $1200 range... quite a bit of money for a sofa back then!

Unfortunately
I have a complete Knoll price list...but it's dated July 15, 1964 preceding the Platner group.
Ask me about the price is any Knoll products before mid-1964 and I'll comply!

Limited Production
Forgot to mention, there were only less than 50 ever made, most likely a special order production.

The Platner group
was very high-end, elegant and expensive. I've read that it was a challenge to manufacture, as most of the welding was done manually.
I suppose the majority of Platner pieces were sold as part of major office installations.
Not only is the settee discontinued, but also the lounge chair and ottoman.
I have seen end tables with lamps built into the base with the stem running straight through the table top...I don't know for sure if they were originally made and offered by Knoll, or if they were specially made by someone else for a specific installation. (There one on eBay right now...and it's listed as being by Laurel, which is probably correct.)
I've always wanted something from this beautiful group, but it's always been completely out of my reach!

Those lamps!
If anyone has any info on those it would be appreciated. I have also seen them with a globe light fixed to the inside of the base... totally cool. The Knoll Museum doesn't have them in their collection nor are they listed in any Knoll literature. Perhaps they were made by the original manufacturer in Italy Platner had found to produce the seating group initially?
Keep checking eBay for good deals, I found all mine right after Christmas when nobody has any money to spend and bids are usually fairly low.

Here's the eBay thread
for that Laurel Platner-like lamp table. They don't turn up everyday, and if you have a grouping of Platner pieces, this table would look very nice, indeed.

Here is my one which I have for sale on Radar. I'm amazed to hear only 50 or less were ever made but you can also see the amount of niggly painstaking work there is in making one. My one came out of an office block so that goes some way towards the theory they mostly went into offices.

I have a set with the bronze finish....
I was lucky enough to get a set made in 1978 in the bronze finish, loveseat and 2 lounge chairs. Originally purchased for a law firm. Paid $4000 about four years ago but love them, later on I learned how few of the loveseat's were actually made. Mine are the original upholstery and could use a re-do but that would be a small fortune and I am living with and enjoying them as is!
