Does anyone know if this chair was ever available upholstered?
I found one today at the thrift for $15 in beautiful condition, but the seat is completely upholstered in a vintage burnt orange fabric that appears original. All the images I can find show the webbed strap seat.
Thanks,
Doug

Was it
Knoll or Risom? Risom designed many pieces under his own name / company.
P.S. Knoll did make an upholstered version.

It has the original Knoll...
It has the original Knoll label, and it looks to be shown in the pic you posted. It appears to be the one that you can see the back edge of on the left side of the pic. Thanks for the info.

Yes, I bought it at first...
Yes, I bought it at first sight. I am learning to always trust my instincts. It has been a good weekend, yesterday I got a teak danish wall unit at the dump.

There were
There were many versions that Risom did of this chair - starting with the webbed version, as well as a fully upholstered one, and the split version above.

Nice find!
Yesterday, my friend sent me a pic he took when he was at the dump. It was a Mulhauser Plycraft Mr. Chair (the one with the wing-like arms) in quite respectable condition. "It thought it might be an Eames, but then I realized it wasn't, so I passed". I called him up and told him to go back and get it...these chairs have their own following. He begrudgingly went back for it. The best part was that as he walked up to it the second time, there were a couple of guys haggling with the employees over it: "No, $4 is way too much for this thing". They passed. My friend asked "how much?". $3. Clowns.

While doing further...
While doing further research, yhe label reads "Knoll Associates 601 Madison Ave" which dates it between 1946-1951. I have not seen another fully upholstered version anywhere, so I assume it to be pretty rare. Thanks for your help.
