I am currently in the process of remodeling my kitchen. We have decided on light maple cabinets with a black granite counter top with little specs of gold. We have the stainless appliances. I do not know what to put on as a backsplash. Perhaps burgandy tiles, or no tiles and just a wall or should I go with those new stainless backsplashes. I need some advice.

Thanks.

How about glass?
Have you considered glass tiles? Maybe something along the lines of these: http://www.walkerzanger.com/wzproducts/displaysubcat2.asp
Depending on the look you want, a 1"square tile could add some texture and pattern. I am not so crazy for all the multicolor ones shown on the site. I tend to like the smaller tiles with only slight variations in color.

Glass
we have glass tiles in our shower and really like them. I've also seen backsplashes with sheets of glass that looks really cool. We have a stainless backsplash, we got it directly from a metal fabricator that does HVAC. That saved us a bundle.

Rethink the black granite...
Hi. We had a black granite counter in one of the bathrooms in our previous home. What a nightmare. It seemed that the counter constantly had stains on it from water. Wash your hands, get a few drops on the counter, voila...stains. It drove me crazy because it was impossible to keep it looking clean. And I am not a "neat freak" by any means. It was just plain awful.
