Hi,
(sorry pictures are so big)
I've a Kantarelli table on my website, and recently I've received a couple of emails questioning its authenticity. I can't find any other photos online to compare.. and I really don't want to sell it as authentic when it isn't.
I just wondered if anyone else has anyone got anything to add regarding the correspondence I've had by email below?:
"Hi there, Just had a look at your Aarnio table. I have Kantarelli dining/side tables and unfortunately I am sure your table is not right. Originals have underneath the base flat fibreglass in the same colour. There should not be any ring shape or difference in colour to the top. Also if you compare the fibreglass under the table connecting to the stem you can see that the white of the stem has not aged with the fibreglass of the table. Anyway, thought this might be of interest for you."
"Thanks for the feedback. Always useful to have things pointed out. I bought the table from a collector who purchased from either Bonhams or Christies I think. He prides himself in buying originals in good condition and had a good relationship with the auction houses. Therefore, I didn't question his identification of the piece, as I've not sold one before etc and all of his other items were genuine. And other pieces online didn't show underneath, so I couldn't compare. So, I will go back to him with your email info as I'd hate to sell anything making false claims etc. Thanks again."
"Thanks for the feedback. It is very difficult sometimes to authenticate those Aarnio Asko designs. If those reputable auction houses confirmed it than it might be ok. I had another look at your pictures and found another discrepancy. Where the table is joined to the base. There should be something like a little sunken "saturns ring" around the tulip base and the raw fibreglass bit should not touch it. Not sure, but it looks in your pictures as if there is fibreglass on this outer ring. My best guess is (if they say it is original ) that at some stage this table has been reinforced, doctored around or repaired. Anyway, it would be interesting what the collecter says. "

Looks right to me
I have had the coffee table and the dining table and chairs before and this looks like the real deal to me. The dining set I had came as a set and the chairs had the correct marks on them so I have no reason to doubt the authenticity of the table that I owned.
