Hello.
I have an egg shaped John Stuart table with 4 chairs that I cannot seem to match to a designer. All solid walnut plus a veneered top. The table has been modified with a different leaf mechanism (not sure when this was done). The leaf itself is missing, but the modified mechanism is a gear slide.
The "John Stuart Inc. Exceptional Furniture" label appears to have at one time fallen off and been glued back on the center strut/leg (it has 5 legs). I suppose it could also have been merely appended to the table and this was never even sold by John Stuart. Regardless, the quality of this table's design and craftsmanship is undeniable.
There are only numbers on the chairs and table--nothing else.
The table has 1221;
Chairs have 2671 1/2 & 7597 + a stamped, circled "3"
Thank you for any help.

The chairs have been identified
as T.H Robsjohn-Gibbings for Widdicomb. A friend of mine figured it out...
The table remains a mystery.

Thanks jesgord
Here are some more pictures...The table is actually egg shaped, which you can better see with these shots. You can also see the curved asymmetrical lines of the horizontal support beam under the table top. While the tapered legs of the table in the catalog are on point, the shape of the top is off. The wood of this table is walnut--not teak or rosewood--which leads me to believe it was manufactured in the U.S., rather than Denmark.
Looking forward to more leads.
Thank you so much!!

The chairs are part of Widdicomb's "Mid-Century Modern" collection which I believe was just a house design, after Robsjohn-Gibbings time as no designer is credited in my catalog. The table isn't in my Widdicomb catalog or either of my John Stuart catalogs. I believe the table jesgord posted is Hvidt and Molgaard as everything else in that pic is but that table is not the same as yours

I have a 1958 Søborg Møbler catalog with model 311 as a Hvidt & Mølgaard design.
See below. It is not very clear from these two pages, but the whole catalog is Hvidt & Mølgaard, not just the items on the first page below that mentions their names.
edit: correction: the first half of the catalog, including that the pages posted below contains designs of Hvidt & Mølgaard. The second half contains designs of Mogensen. And the last page contains Wilhelm Vohlerts designs.

Also as parafo noted above, it really isn't clear to me that the OP's table is the same as this Hvidt & Mølgaard table. It might be, but then I can't really see the details. The veneer top seems possibly wrong. I am not certain that these Søborg tables had solid tops, but I believe that they did and it would be fitting for the rest of this line which is solid teak.
