Does anyone have leads on where I can get information on mid-century Japanese scandinavian-inspired furniture? We purchased a table/chairs/sideboard that are labeled with Japanese writing but look very Scandinavian. I find the sideboard to be perfectly proportioned and clean in appearance. I'll get a couple photos when I get home, was hoping someone could either identify the furniture or point us in the right direction because there seems to be little information online. Here's a photo of the marking, I'll post a link additionally:

I'm pretty sure the label in the top post link relates only to the lumber or plywood used in construction. JAS stands for Japanese Agricultural Standards. Something like USDA in the USA. JAS stickers, stamps and labels would be on agricultural products that pass standards but also on imported lumber to notate various quality of the goods.

Ah, so it is. I can't find any info about JAS that may give an indication as to the age (when was the JAS formed?). Posting to a translation site to see if someone can translate.
Also, the table has a leaf that rotates up from underneath the table once the two ends of the table are separated. Based on this lousy description, is there a term for this type of mechanism? Thanks

So it isn't sui generis.
There were japanese made knock offs of say Wegner rocking chairs. But since this isn't a knock off, I am not sure what to make of it.
Good luck!

.
I imagine that if you dig through miles of images of teak furniture you can find more case pieces with those handles. Never seen them before, and one will either be marked, or somebody will have the story of where it came from with a name to go along with the story. You will probably find a variety of other furniture by the same maker too. And then you will have more things to search for. The chair is also quite recognizable, so you might find it too.
Here's another
The chair this time.
